A while back, I included my Inside Mary's Medicine Cabinet article an overview of various products that I regularly take. I've had a number of questions about one the products I included in that article, Awe-Slim, so I thought I'd offer some more specifics.
NOW is the maker of Awe-Slim, which is a liquid nutritional supplement that contains hydrolyzed collagen. This is considered an easily digested and assimilated protein that helps strengthen connective tissue and muscle.
The collagen protein in Awe-Slim is supposed to help support the body's ability to maintain lean muscle tissue, ultimately helping with fat loss.
Some other selected ingredients include:
- Chromium - can help increase fat loss, protect muscle, and maintain good blood sugars.
- Aloe Vera Juice -- can help the gastrointestinal tract work more efficiently
- Apple Cider Vinegar - can act as an appetite suppressant, may help with metabolism
- Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) - considered useful in fat metabolism, may reduce body fat
- Garcinia Cambogia - may suppress appetite, may induce weight loss
- L-Carnitine – An amino acid need to release energy from fats
- L-Arginine and L-Ornithine - Help reduce fat with exercise
- Stevia – Used for flavor. Has a naturally sweet taste.
Awe-Slim does NOT contain any ephedra, or any stimulants. (I have mitral valve prolapse, and so I am particularly sensitive to anything with extra caffeine, ephedra, gotu kola, guarana, or any other stimulants. Aweslim does not have that effect on me, and doesn't give me palpitations!)
At various times, I have used Aweslim, putting 1 capful into a cup of water, right before bedtime. It taste fine, slightly sweet (from the stevia), and fruit-flavored.
I can't explain the synergy of the various ingredients and how they work, and at some point, perhaps I'll have a nutritionist explain why this might be working, but for now, I'll go by my own response and results.
