ONE OF MY FAVORITE WEIGHT LOSS SUPPLEMENTS: CINNAMON

Yup, cinnamon. Sounds crazy, but they're finding out more every day about the terrific properties cinnamon can have on blood sugar. And I've found that it seems to help control blood sugar swings -- and therefore, helps tamp down hunger. You can use it in food, take it in supplements. But before you do any of that, read more about it!

WARNING: HOT TEMPERATURES MAY BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR DRUGS

Heat waves are rolling across America. Did you drop by the pharmacy, pick up a prescription, and then leave it in the car for a few hours? Did you lose power for a day or two after thunderstorms? Did you take a summer vacation, and pack your medication in your luggage? Does your pharmacy turn off its air conditioning at night? All of these factors can wreak havoc on your medication -- and your health! Find out more.

EXERCISING SAFELY IN HEAT

Speaking of the heat... with warmer weather and extra daylight, we have even more opportunity to spend even time enjoying outdoor activities. And for many, this means more time doing physical activities and playing sports. So, it's important to remember the potential dangers that also come with exercising in hot conditions. As long as you know the dos and don'ts of working out in the heat, then you can fully take advantage of all the fun of summer. Some tips.

THYROID SELF-TESTS / ORDERING YOUR OWN TESTS

Speaking of being unconventional, while I don't recommend being your own doctor, sometime you need to get involved in your thyroid diagnosis and care. That's where self-tests and ordering your own tests comes in. Find out how you can order your own thyroid lab work -- the same tests your doctor would do, as well as up-and-coming saliva tests.

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF WEIGHT LOSS

Losing weight requires more than a physical commitment - the mental aspect is also vitally important. When it comes to fitness, the mind truly is a powerful thing. Have doubts that there is a mind-body connection to wellness? Here's a test you can try now, to find out.

NOTES FROM MARY

Dear Readers,

I had the pleasure of meeting Ann Louise Gittleman for dinner several years ago, right before her Fat Flush diet book was about to become a phenomenal bestseller. She is a smart and very committed advocate for good health, and good nutrition. I was impressed with her energy, enthusiasm, and terrific ideas! But believe me, even though she's quite slim, Ann Louise loves good food. She was definitely NOT one of those people who is satisfied on celery sticks and a diet soda!

So when I learned that Ann Louise was coming out with a line of foods, I knew they were going to be special, and that is absolutely true! She has put her heart and soul into launching her line of foods. Her "Ann Louise Signature Foods" are all guaranteed to be free of refined sugars, artificial sweeteners, trans fats, gluten, unfermented soy, yeast, antibiotics, pesticides, preservatives and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). But beyond all these wonderful, healthy benefits, the best thing is that they really do taste great.

Classic Salsa -- Classic Organic Salsa -- My favorite of her foods is the salsa. It's on the spicy side (which I love!) and filled with chunky vegetables. It's low-cal, low-carb, great for dipping, or as topping on eggs, fish, chicken or meat. I lived in Texas, I've traveled in Mexico, and so I feel like I know salsa. This is without a doubt the best salsa I've ever tasted!

Salad Dressings -- Ann Louise's salad dressings are amazing. The dressings are made with organic flaxseed (a natural anti-inflammatory) and olive oils and apple cider vinegar, each with its own distinct ingredients and flavors. The Asian Cranberry Salad Dressing has a bit of a sweet Asian feeling. Herbes de Provence is a creamy vinaigrette Italian. Dijon & Honey is sweet, with a bit of Dijon spice. My favorite is the Rio Grande French , which has tomatoes, and some southwestern spices. There's also Asian Cranberry, Dijon & Honey, and Herbes de Provence.

Snack Bars -- come in two flavors, Cherry Cashew and Cranberry Apple. They're made with whey protein, real fruit, nuts, and seeds. My children absolutely love them -- especially the cranberry apple! (And I am happier to give them an Ann Louise bar, rather than a fat-filled granola bar, or candy!) You should hear my 3-year old, he's so cute when he points up the counter and says "Annaweebar, Mama, Annaweebar!" -- (That's Ann Louise bar, in 3-year-old!)

I'm always glad when I can let people know about something that my family and I really are enjoying, so I definitely wanted to make you aware of these new foods.

By the way, if you have found a food or product that you think is just fantastic, be sure to drop me a line and spread the word!!

Find out more and get info on where to order Ann Louise's foods online.

Live well,

Mary

P.S. DID I MENTION HOW GOOD THE SALSA IS???!!!!
