I admit it! I'm a magazine fanatic! I've always loved getting magazines. Whether it's picking up an issue in the line at the grocery, or subscribing, I always have dozens of magazines around. (Right now, there's a stack by my bed, waiting to be read!) For me, there's nothing better than a cup of tea (in the winter), or a frosty drink (in the summer), and a pile of new magazines to read!!
Here are the health, fitness and food-related magazines I subscribe to personally, along with several others that may be of interest to thyroid and autoimmune disease patients.

Cooking Light Magazine
Forget about the cottage cheese diet platters of the old days! This is a great magazine to get new ideas on healthy ways to cook, new recipes, fresh ideas. I really love the salad recipes in particular, and their healthy takes on familiar comfort foods.

Prevention Magazine
I've been reading Prevention for about 30 years, and three decades ago, this amazing little magazine was talking about the importance of vitamins, natural approaches, diet, and exercise. They were ahead of the pack then, and they continue to provide great information, in a helpful, understandable way. Their walking programs and beginner exercise approaches are particularly helpful, and they also frequently include great recipes!

Alternative Medicine Magazine
This is the only consumer magazine that is really breaking ground when it comes to coverage of alternative medicine. These guys were talking about adrenal problems, T3, and natural thyroid a decade ago, when you simply wouldn't find ANY discussion of thyroid disease in any other magazines. They have great writers, and many practitioners I know are guest writers for the magazine. I read every issue, cover to cover!

Dr. Weil's Self Healing Newsletter
You have to love Dr. Weil, with his peaceful smile, and bushy beard. He has been talking about nutrition, healthy options, spontaneous healing, vitamins, and alternative approaches for years, and his newsletter is a great source of information on the latest approaches. Dr. Weil tackles great topics -- use of essential fatty acids, for example, and whether glucosamine is good for joints, and stress reduction techniques, and whether soy is good for you. Another one I read cover to cover, every page!

Health Magazine
Health is a mix of fun reading, and some great, in-depth health topics. This is the one I tuck in my bag to read when I'm waiting at a doctor's office, or look at while I have my lunch. There's always something interesting!
