This coming Tuesday, April 8th, I'll be at the Women's Wellness Society Dinner in New York City. This wonderful group has invited me to be the guest speaker at their monthly dinner, where I'll be giving a presentation about thyroid disease, followed by an extended Q&A session answering everyone's thyroid and hormone-related questions. Hooray, hooray. Sometimes, justice prevails. While it's innocent until proven guilty and all, I can't help but applaud the fact that that the Shelby County Sheriff's Office has arrested the infamous Perry Belcher, owner/founder of Selmedica -- the company that makes the supplement/fake thyroid cure "Alvidar" -- as well as dozens of other overpriced supposed "cures" for serious diseases. Belcher also sells the short "Secret Cure to" disease pamphlets that he calls "ebooks" -- supposedly written by experts but actually written by outsourced freelancers with no medical expertise. His supposed medical expert, "Pat Harper" whose picture is featured on most of the ebooks and on the websites promoting them? It's a stock photo from Clipart.com, a fact I exposed in an article at my site. Belcher's ebook scam also had people getting automatically billed each month for continued access to the ebooks. A total ripoff -- start to finish!! And taking advantage of people who are sick, often don't have insurance, and can least afford to be bilked out of money! Really infuriating.
Belcher has done business in the names of: Selmedica Affiliates, Selmedica Healthcare, Increase Media, HealthyRightNow.com, Spring Time Herbs, Perry M. Belcher Companies, Gotcha Marketing, and AMI, Inc. In addition to the supposed thyroid supplement Alvidar, some of the Selmedica products consumers have been victimized by include: Zymelite, Dr. Chong's Oolong Tea, ColonDTX, Cabbage Soup Diet Pill, Diavad, Vacitia, Zetinol, Candisil, Botisol, Valbien, Defamox, Episyl, Thymusil, Dexoprin, Flexoprin, Peritol, Celestrin, DiatrinH, Alvidar, Amberoz, Digestrin, Enzara, Erostat, FungRX, LiceX, Ovulex, Sumactin, Veinocal, Welatonin, Zynoxin, Avprin, Leucatin, Puricil, Zetacap, Myocil, Hyprava, Lacitrex, Viranol, Epitrex, Paravex, Aceium, Amloxin, Lexoprin, Palorin, Equitab, Rybolin, Thermoderm, SonaRX, Kryoderm, Lantrasil, Nexoprin, Altoxin, Livadone.
