Tamuning Dr. Joel Rubio Pacificare Health Center 548 S. Marine Dr. Tamuning, GU 96913 A reader writes: "I also have an internist/endocrinologist here on-island. Dr. Joel Rubio. He is very thorough, very clinical, and will search diligently for the root of the problem. He is a bit "by the numbers" as far as lab values go but always sends a very detailed update to Dr. Lom so that she may formulate my treatment. Neither doctor is skeptical about the benefits of T3 treatment and both are very knowledgeable about auto-immunity (I have Hashimoto's and Hypoadrenia). A reader writes: "My primary care physician is Dr. Jitka Lom. She is not an endocrinologist, but a family practitioner. She was trained in Toronto, Canada. She is hypothyroid herself and very understanding about the relationship between thyroid health and mental well-being. She has a very holistic approach to treatment and does not just consider lab values but will treat you (in her own words) "mind, body and spirit". She will spend a lot of time with you listening and discussing possible treatments, is not afraid of alternative therapies, and is a wealth of information. She will even loan you books to help you study your condition (Which is how I came to find Dr. Ridha Arem's wonderful book). (Note- you must be an employee or a dependant of Continental Airlines or one of its local subsidiaries to utilize this clinic but if you are military or a local resident and can get a referral from your doctor I believe you can use this facility) (Added 4/03) |
